On Autumn's Cusp

Marge's Labyrinth!
My friend, Marge Ditsler, and her daughter Jennifer constructed a labyrinth this summer.  Isn't it wonderful?   The cabin in the background is her potting shed.  She invited me out to walk the labyrinth and sit on her porch and drink tea.  The labyrinth is small, about 20 feet in diameter and Marge warned that if you walk it too fast you get dizzy!  We used qigong walking (xi xi hu) which slowed us down.  When we got to the center we both just stood there and laughed.  "What else should we have done?" (to borrow a phrase from Mary Oliver)  It was a wonderful afternoon.

on autumn's cusp we
trace a soft spiral with our
summer hardened feet
