We have one little banty hen who is the only one of our chickens who will sit on eggs, so Kevin gave her a variety of eggs to incubate this spring. She became a surrogate mother for a couple of chicks who have both outgrown her, but she still treats them like babies. When they roost, she holds her wings out so that they can squeeze underneath. She looks so comical sitting there with her wings raised up to her ears and her two big "chicks" peeking out. I told Kevin this is how it is with me--all my boys are bigger than me now--I can't put my arms around them without raising my arms up to my ears either--
and it happened so fast!
