Dance Around the Fire

From the moment he is born, the Native child is immersed in a rich environment of "songs, stories, and ceremonies; the movement of the wind in the trees and the waves on a river; the sounds of the birds; the voices of dreams and animals; and the dance around the fire at night. Throughout coming-to-knowing, the child is encouraged to listen and watch, to become sensitive to the rich tapestry of the world. ~ From Living the Field
